Office sale plan to boost life science production and jobs

23rd June 2010

The sale of office premises at Warrens Park, Enderby, is set to promote growth and create jobs for a life science company returning to Leicestershire.

Leading Leicestershire commercial property specialist Andrew and Ashwell has recently completed the sale of Unit 4, Feldspar Close, to Pepceuticals, from international food systems specialist Marel, which is consolidating out of Leicester.

Pepceuticals, currently based at Nottingham’s science park, Biocity, is planning a move back to Leicester with investment in the building, plus a £900,000 refurbishment programme.

The modern two-storey offices and adjoining workshops in Feldspar Close, comprising almost 10,000 sq ft of space, plus rear land, cover over an acre in total, offering substantial scope for the planned expansion. This includes boosting the current workforce from seven to 30 over the next three years.

Refurbishment will feature the creation of in-house laboratories to expand Pepceuticals’ production of peptides and bioactive molecules for use in clinical trials. It is expected that refurbishment will be completed for Pepceuticals to move in by the end of September.

Managing Director Kamal Badiani said: “I am delighted with all the help I have received from Andrew and Ashwell in securing premises that will allow our future expansion. We have been looking to move back to Leicester for some time and now we have found the right location.”

Malcolm Grayson, Director Andrew and Ashwell, said the location and scope for the building were major factors in the success of the sale.

“Warrens Park is a highly convenient location for companies with plans for expansion, as the modern premises on site and the close proximity to motorway connections create the ideal environment for growth.”
