Hamilton - Assignment of lease, ‘stepping stone’ for growth
23rd June 2010
A strategic move to optimise distribution by a global leader in sterilisation monitoring systems will pave the way for future company expansion throughout the UK from Leicester.
Commercial property specialist Andrew and Ashwell has assigned the lease of Unit 8, Waterside Road, Hamilton Industrial Park, to Albert Brown Limited, part of American group, Steris Ltd; for warehousing and offices.
Albert Brown currently occupies nearby premises, at 190 Waterside Road. Previously all UK distribution was run from a third party warehouse in Tamworth, but from August this function will operate from Leicester, with the initial creation of two jobs. The previous tenant, marketing support service group GI Solutions, has taken additional space next to its main warehouse premises at Scudamore Road.
Unit 8 provides nearly 21,000 sq ft of modern detached warehouse space, including purpose-built, fitted two storey offices. Good transport links, close to Leicester’s ring road motorway connection, three miles north east of the city centre, will provide Steris with a broader distribution foothold centrally located in the Midlands.
Alan Charlton, General Manager at Albert Brown, said the
move will enable more effective delivery of safety and infection reducing solutions to hospitals, scientific research institutes, pharmaceutical manufacturers and industrial customers.
“Relocating our warehousing and office space closer together will facilitate improved continuity for our operation, allowing us consolidation and better control. We view the move as an important stepping stone for our future growth throughout the UK.”
Andrew and Ashwell Director Malcolm Grayson, said assignment of the lease had created a win-win solution for all parties.
“The moves have worked out perfectly, both for Steris and GI solutions, enabling each company to find accommodation that will fulfil their needs and facilitate expansion.”
