About us

Andrew and Ashwell Chartered Surveyors is a privately formed partnership, originally formed in 1868 by Mr Arthur Andrew, who was an auctioneer selling bulbs and agricultural produce from Lincolnshire. The current partners are Malcolm Grayson and Jonathan Archer.

Our business began in Horsefair Street, Leicester, moving just after the First World War to Waterloo Street until 1973, when the whole area was demolished to make way for Leicester's Inner Ring Road. Since then our offices have been at 53 London Road, just outside the Ring Road and virtually opposite the mainline railway station.

We have always been a specialised commercial and industrial advisory service, handling sales, acquisitions and lettings along with investment, development and property management.

In addition to these core activities, we provide a full range of professional advisory services covering such matters as appeals against rating assessments, town planning applications/appeals, and compensation assessments for such matters as compulsory purchase, together with profession valuations.

We have wide experience of Landlord and Tenant Matters, both practically and legally, and much of this experience is derived from our Property Management Department, which concentrates on looking after commercial and industrial property in Leicestershire and surrounding East Midlands counties for numerous clients.

In an increasingly impersonal age, we pride ourselves on fostering and maintaining direct personal contact with our clients, offering each direct and continuing personal contact at a high level, rather than delegation to junior assistants. We are always happy to discuss with prospective clients any property problems or difficulties they may have.
